Promoting racial equality in the workplace is an important part of HR and an employer’s remit.
Despite this, previous research has unearthed stark inequalities in the workplace. For example, statistics revealed in 2018 by the Equality and Human Rights Commission found that unemployment rates were significantly higher for ethnic minorities at 12.9% compared with 6.3% for white people.
A key takeaway from the research identified employment as a key area needing improvement to move the racial equality dial forwards.
Yet, a group of Adidas workers have penned a letter to executives at the firm asking them to examine whether the sportswear giant’s HR chief has responded appropriately to racial issues within the organisation.
