Face coverings must be worn on public transport

As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK steadily falls, the Government has confirmed that more businesses such as retail outlets and non-essential services can now start to resume.

Strict ‘COVID-secure’ guidelines have been put in place to facilitate the safe return to work and Government guidance has been released regarding how staff can safely commute to work.

From today, anyone travelling on public transport in England must legally wear a face covering, with 3,000 extra staff including police officers and community support officers deployed to ensure this new rule is being followed – BBC reported.

Whilst those with certain health conditions, people with disabilities and children are exempt from the rule (yet are being encouraged to wear facial coverings where possible), passengers who choose to flout the measure will be asked to wear one or face a £100 fine as a result of continued rule-breaking.
