What HR needs to know about furlough

Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, the UK Government’s furlough scheme has supported huge numbers of employers and employees.

Gov.uk has said that today (June 10, 2020) is the final day that employers can apply for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).

It has been reported that the scheme will close to new entrants from June 30. As a result, employers will only be able to furlough staff members that they have placed on the scheme for a full three-week period prior to June 30, 2020.

Richard White, Partner in the Employment Law team at Royds Withy King, told HR Grapevine: “The Government has extended the furlough scheme through to the end of October but has set the firm deadline of this Wednesday (June 10) for employers wishing to add staff to the furlough scheme.
