Pride month is celebrated each year throughout June to honour the 1969 Stonewall uprising in Manhattan.
In normal circumstances, LGBT+ pride parades, marches, community days and festivals mark the occasion yet, sadly, the coronavirus pandemic has halted the celebrations in their usual form. In addition, employers and HR will have to re-think some of the Pride celebrations that would have usually taken place back at the office and come up with virtual strategies to help celebrate the LGBT+ community.
In this week’s podcast, HR Grapevine’s Online Editor, Sophie Parrott, chats to Executive Grapevine Digital Media’s Deputy Editor, Kieran Howells, to discuss Pride month ahead of June and the importance of celebrating it at work. The pair also share tips from Stonewall – the charity that campaigns for the equality of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people across Britain – as well as HR leaders, to showcase best practice when it comes to virtually celebrating Pride.
