When an employee works from home it is likely that they will incur additional costs, whether this is due to increased electricity usage, Wi-Fi upgrades or phone bills.
Research from Smart Pay As You Go energy provider Utilita has corroborated this finding that anxious locked down employees estimate that they are paying more than £70 extra per month to work from home.
Additionally, the study of 2,000 adults found that remote workers were most concerned about how much it is costing them in energy bills, printing supplies – and tea bags.
In response to the cost of working from home prior to the lockdown period, a Swiss employer has been ordered to pay towards a worker’s rent for the period they used their home office to carry out work for the company.
