It has been alleged that the tech giant Google has significantly cut back internal programmes designed to promote diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace, reported Forbes.
According to a report released by CNBC News this week, current and former employees at the organisation stated that the reason for this decision was so Google wouldn’t appear anti-conservative, an accusation the business denies.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, eight current and former staff members revealed that a well-liked ‘comprehensive racial justice’ programme called Sojourn was cut in 2019, adding that full-time diversity positions have not been retained in the business.
Following the allegations, Melonie Parker, Chief Diversity Officer at Google, has denied the accusations stating that the programme was cut because it had too much of a US-specific focus for a global business.
