Worker support | Uber shares job ads to help drivers earn money

To help assist workers who may have experienced a decline in customers, Uber is now listing job openings at other companies on its app for drivers to access.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, approximately 240,000 drivers who hold a license with the ride-hailing firm will have likely experienced a sharp decrease in customers seeking services, after advice issued has encouraged everybody to stay home and not use transportation facilities.

For example, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently instructed the whole of the UK to stay indoors and work from home where possible in order to stop the spread of the virus and relieve pressure from the NHS.

As such, Uber has started posting regular job vacancies at the likes of Amazon and McDonald’s on its app. The company also revealed that drivers who hold a commercial license would be paired with logistics companies, according to a report from the Financial Times.
