Times of crisis call for strong leadership, as people look to leaders to provide a clear path and confidence that they will be able to come out the other side. But there are two directions human nature can take us.
According to Gallup, these can either be fear, helplessness and victimisation or engagement and self-actualisation. As such Gallup meta-analytics has recently discovered the four universal needs that followers have of leaders, which include:

Despite this, just 39% of employees revealed in recent Gallup research that they strongly agree their employer has communicated a clear plan of action in response to COVID-19. In contrast, the research discovered that staff members do feel prepared to carry out their job at home, as 54% strongly agree that considering the recent developments, they are equipped to work remotely.
Wellbeing is something that may not be considered a priority by employers however, as less than half of employees (45%) strongly agree that their organisation cares about their overall wellbeing.
