Procrastination is something the majority of workers are guilty of succumbing to. Whether it’s doing some quick online shopping instead or chatting with colleagues in the kitchen for longer than usual, Brits are known to postpone their work tasks.
In fact, it has emerged that employees carry out ten non-work-related tasks in the office each day, with many choosing to browse the web or carry out important online banking instead.
A study of 2,000 office workers by Yakult Light discovered that 37% of respondents have checked the menu of a restaurant they were planning to visit, while half will check on the weather regularly throughout the working day.
Workers also shared that they spend 30% of their day printing personal documents (which, according to a separate study, is costing small businesses an average of £4,250 per year), scrolling through social media and buying tickets to concerts, meanwhile, seven in ten admitted to researching or booking a holiday during work hours.
