Government seeks new HR chief as tensions rise

Following a spate of incidents – including accusations of bullying and verbal abuse – within the Government and the civil service, the Cabinet Office has announced that it is now looking to recruit an HR advisor.

The new HR chief will be responsible for installing a more structured and policed policy within the Government, with emphasis on the relationship between senior staff and special advisors.

The ‘high profile and stretching’ position is being advertised after a number of investigations were launched, including one triggered by the ‘unfair dismissal’ of Sonia Khan, a former advisor to Sajid Javid, who claimed that she had been discriminated against and accused of leaking information.

The individual who takes the £60,635 position will act as an “HR policy lead,” and will “play a key role in establishing the cross-government special adviser HR function. They will be asked to revise and embed a full suite of HR policies, processes and principles ensuring they are fit for purpose,” the advert stated.
