Employers have various ways in which they recognise their staff; a rewarding team-building day or incentives such as employee of the month have all been known to help boost morale and show appreciation.
And this is something employees want more of in the workplace, as a 2017 survey carried out by Reward Gateway found that 70% of workers think that motivation and morale would improve if managers simply said 'thank you' more and noticed good work.
If employees do not feel recognised and valued for their hard work, this can lead to a loss in talent as a Gallup survey pointed out that employees who don’t feel appreciated are twice as likely to quit in a year.
One employer took to LinkedIn recently to reveal how he showed his appreciation to an employee with a small message of thanks.
