7 in 10 employers observe presenteeism at work

Seven in ten (71%) UK business leaders have witnessed presenteeism in the office in the last year, new research has found.

The practice of being present at work or working while sick can hugely hamper business productivity, reduce the quality of output and cause employee burnout if it isn’t nipped in the bud.

Robert Half UK’s study found that the concealed burden on business and productivity is most prevalent in the capital, with 83% of London-based employers noticing presenteeism in their own office.

This figure is far lower at 62% in the North.
