Worker claims she was 'let go' due to mental health

One in 6.8 people experience mental health problems in the workplace, Mental Health.org has previously reported, with evidence suggesting that 12.7% of all sickness absence days in the UK can be attributed to mental health conditions.

While this may be the case for many employees, under UK law employers have a ‘duty of care’, meaning they must do all they can to support their employees’ health, according to Acas.

However, one employee has recently revealed that she was ‘let go’ from her job due to her mental health.

Speaking to the BBC, Steph said: “I've had really bad experiences in the past with employers, I've even been 'let go' because I took time off for my mental health.
