Job ad says no phones allowed

Employers may seek many requirements from new starters, for example candidates may need to be able to use a particular piece of software or have knowledge of a certain market in order to bag the role.

Increasingly, however, a requirement more employers expect from job candidates is to be able to switch off their phones, and for one business this is more important than anything else.

The Masons Arms in Southport shared a job post on Facebook for part time bar staff, which revealed that applicants must be able to get through a shift without checking their phone.

With 70% of employees admitting to keeping their phones within eye contact at work, according to a Career Builder survey, it’s clear that mobiles may be having a damaging impact on employees’ productivity at work.
