An ex-Citibank executive has won an age discrimination case after claiming that he was pushed out for being ‘too old’ – The Metro reported.
The tribunal ruled that Niels Kirk, who had worked at Citibank for 26 years between 1991 and 2017, was a victim of ageism and had been unfairly dismissed.
At 55-years-old, Kirk was let go from his role with no prior warning and claimed that his boss told him at the meeting: “You’re old and set in your ways”. It was reported that a female employee four years his junior replaced him during a company restructure.
