Employee tried to sue after 'humiliating' card

Discrimination against someone’s age is a common issue many employees have faced or are currently facing in the workplace.

So much so that figures released from Fairygodboss last year found that one in three people who have experienced ageism encountered it before they reached the age of 45.

As a result of age discrimination, one worker has been left feeling ‘humiliated and insulted’ after she received a 50th birthday card. According to the Daily Mail, the legal secretary has since reportedly tried to sue her employer for age discrimination after she received the card in the post.

Hilary Munro, who worked at Sampson Coward LLP in Wiltshire, told a tribunal that she was ‘a private person and someone who does not share personal information at work’ and was shocked that her peers at work decided to reveal the news of her birthday.
