Whilst business tools have advanced dramatically in recent years, one of the core elements of Boardroom meetings, company townhalls and nearly every information-rich presentation hasn’t changed for over a decade – the use of PowerPoint presentations.
Microsoft’s slide-based software, which boasts 1.2billion users worldwide, can be a useful tool for the corporate world, yet new research commissioned by Future Present has found that its usage often results in disengagement from audiences.
When asked about their feelings on the use of PowerPoint in the workplace, 58% of office workers admitted that they have almost fallen asleep in a PowerPoint presentation during the last year alone.

22% admitted it takes them less than six minutes to drift off during a presentation. By the ten-minute mark, 48% said they were thinking about something else and food topped the list (53%) followed by TV shows they wanted to watch later that evening (36%) as well as sex (31%) and relationships (38%).
