Leaked HR memo reveals pay error after 'cyber incident'

Receiving your pay slip at the end of a long month of work is something all employees look forward to, making it something that every employer should ensure is delivered on time.

However, for some workers this just wasn’t the case after employees at US department store Barneys woke up last week to discover they had not been paid, Business Insider reported.

This news follows months of uncertainty among Barneys staff members after the business filed for administration and was acquired by Authentic Brands Group.

According to a companywide leaked email titled ‘PLEASE READ! Important Payroll Update’, which was sent by Barneys’ HR department on January 3, employees were informed that the delay to their pay was due to a ‘cyber incident’. The email went on to state that they were ‘likely to be paid’ on January 9 2020.
