Changes to IR35 legislation are set to be put in place from April this year, which will see businesses, who are engaging independent workers, become responsible for setting the tax status of these individuals.
However, the government has since launched a review of the proposed changes to off-payroll working rules, with new pledges to ensure a ‘smooth implementation’ of the reforms scheduled for April, reported the FT Adviser.
HM Treasury revealed that it has launched its previously announced review of the changes to off-payroll working rules, in a bid to address any concerns from businesses and individuals about how the rules will be implemented.
IR35 | Businesses are NOT ready for tax changes
As part of the review, the government hopes to establish whether any further steps could be taken to ensure a smooth implementation of the reforms and if extra support is required to ensure that self-employed workers, who do not fall under the new rule, are not impacted.
