The speed at which modern technology is revolutionising the workplace is fastening swiftly.
Advancements such as machine learning, AI and automation are not only aiding workers in efficiently completing their roles but actually defining new and innovative functions – many of which will become a mainstay of the workplace in the future.
However, this doesn’t mean that all workplaces are embracing the need for modern tech; in fact, a recent study conducted by Currys PC World found that the impact that slow and outdated technology is having a massively detrimental effect on productivity. The research found that the average Brit loses around 46 minutes per day due to slow tech, which equates to a massive 24 days of working time per year and approximately £2,752 – based on the average UK salary.
So, what exactly is causing these dramatic delays in operating day-to-day digital resources? Well, according to the study the worst culprit is opening software and programmes, which takes around 20 minutes per day. This is followed by opening and saving documents at 16.5 minutes per day and sending emails at 16.5 minutes per day.
