Employer swaps Christmas do for office conference

Some employees are not a fan of the traditional Christmas party – for example in 2018 Perkbox revealed in its survey of 1,000 UK workers that 29% of staff dislike the seasonal bash.

It went on to reveal that 34% of workers dread the Christmas do because they don’t want to socialise with colleagues; 30% said they find the event too cliquey and 27% claimed that they don’t like organised fun.

One boss has since realised that the Christmas party isn’t popular among workers and has swapped it for a conference instead.

Speaking to the BBC, Craig Unsworth, Owner of business travel app Upgrade Pack, said: “We've got people who don't celebrate Christmas culturally, we've got people who don't celebrate it religiously. We've got people who don't drink, we've got people who want to go out and get absolutely mashed.”
