Family first | Employee's difficult choice between family & career

An employee has taken to Mumsnet explaining that she wants to have a baby but doesn’t want to compromise her chances of being promoted at work.

The mum, who is currently on maternity leave with her first child, told Mumsnet users that she feels ready to have another baby but doesn’t want to miss out on an internal role which has just cropped up.

User Workaholic2mum wrote: “I am over half way into my maternity leave but an internal vacancy has come up, I have applied and have been given the date for an interview! Is it possible to have both a baby and a new job? Am I being selfish? What if when I start the new job (if I get it) I'm already pregnant!? (sic)”

Many Mumsnet users said that no man would ever ‘think twice’ about going for a promotion so neither should she.
