A work uniform has numerous purposes. Not only does it reduce anxiety for employees over what they should wear to work each day, but it may serve as a health and safety precaution in some industries.
Additionally, a uniform is a great way of creating brand awareness and promoting employee pride and loyalty which can help employees feel part of a team.
While uniform policies are often an important part of company policy for many employers, one firm has come under fire for a ‘bizarre’ staff request when calculating staff uniform sizes that sparked widespread criticism on Dutch social media.
A Netherlands supermarket chain asked staff to upload photos in their underwear to an app so that it could calculate the appropriate size for a new uniform – the BBC reported.
