Workers sue over sexual harassment claims

Over the last few weeks, the McDonald’s brand has been splashed over the news after the fast-food chain’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, was sacked for having a consensual relationship with one of his colleagues.

While Easterbrook was not accused of harassment, it was found that his relationship violated workplace policies which he later branded a “mistake”.

This story shone a light on the importance of HR policies outlining the dos and don’ts for employees at work and this case was an example of how employees weren’t exempt from following the rules, regardless of their seniority.

Yet, the latest news to hit headlines this week was about McDonald’s workers at a franchise in Michigan who have filed a class action lawsuit to tackle the ‘systematic problem’ of sexual harassment – TIME reported.
