Various reasons may contribute to an employee being sacked. They may have been underperforming and failing to meet targets or turning up late on a daily basis.
But when it comes to a family business, surely parents would let things like this slide for example if their son decided to take a lacklustre approach to work?
In contrast, this just wasn’t the case for one family who took their business very seriously. It was recently reported by The Guardian that a man from Melbourne was sacked by his father from a family business because he was late to a family dinner.
Pasquale Parente had been working at his father Edigo Parente’s car repair shop for two years when an argument arose during a family dinner on March 10 2019. Court documents that were obtained and reported on by The Australian discovered that after the son arrived late to the dinner, his parent’s ‘became angry and there was an argument’.
