Earlier this year, Facebook’s Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was grilled by over one hundred lawmakers about the way in which his firm held and utilised user data.
One of the most poignant exchanges that came to light in the trial was between Zuckerberg and a congresswoman where the tech magnate was challenged about Facebook’s policies on paid political advertisements.
In a video of the exchange that has since gone viral, Zuckerberg confirmed that there were logistical flaws in Facebook’s moral policies surrounding false statements in these advertisements. Essentially, he confirmed that the platform wouldn’t prevent lies from being spread.

As a result, over 250 Facebook employees have signed a letter to the Zuckerberg and other senior executives stating that they oppose the company’s official policies on political advertisements.
