PwC, KPMG UK LLP and Severn Trent scooped the top three spots in the Top 75 Social Mobility Employer Index 2019 Rankings.
The index, which was created by the Social Mobility Foundation, ranks UK employers based on the actions that they are taking to ensure that they are open to recruiting and developing talent from all different backgrounds.
It also highlights those employers who are doing the most to shake-up the way that they locate, recruit and develop talent from a variety of different social class backgrounds to promote diversity and inclusion.
From those employers who are making a conscious effort to spark change, the research revealed that 42% of employers currently monitor their recruitment process to see where those from lower socio-economic backgrounds fall down, while 40% are actively assessing their current culture to ensure that it is welcoming to everyone, regardless of social class.
