This week, 16-year-old environmental activist Greta Thunberg addressed a packed summit of world leaders to discuss the issue of climate change.
Thunberg, who has swiftly become the face of a global youth-based movement of activists and supporters seeking drastic change, spoke boldly on the subject, telling leaders: “You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth.”
Her impassioned plea to spearhead effective transformation has since gone viral and been covered by virtually every major news network – however, this is far from the first time that Thunberg’s divisive actions have been big news; she’s held meetings with world leaders and spoken at numerous rallies and demonstrations to name but a few.
