Workers operating in bus driving, construction and lorry driving sectors have revealed extreme levels of tiredness and exhaustion due to excessive working patterns – Birmingham Live reported.
Unite union’s recent study of over 13,500 workers revealed that union members within the three sectors were working more than the standard 40-hour week, with some bus drivers working six consecutive days at a time.
The excessive working hours started to take their toll on these workers and were causing family breakdowns and compromising workplace safety.
“Workers are having their health and relationships destroyed because of excessive hours,” explained Assistant General Secretary, Diana Holland.
