Workers at the coffeehouse Costa Coffee have claimed that they had £200 deducted from their wages for training.
According to the BBC, who spoke to 13 current and former Costa workers at the franchises in Essex, workers said they were also subjected to other deductions for till discrepancies and running costs.
Courtney Morton, a former part-time worker at a store in Upminster earned less than £200 a week and was told that the deduction for training would be equivalent to one week of pay. She therefore was expected to be charged less than £200, however she was charged a flat £200.
"When I was there I was told that it would be your last week's wages to cover training costs, but it turned out to be a flat £200," Morton said.
