Over half of UK employees don't have the right digital skills

New research conducted by Gov.uk has found that employers are struggling to fill more than one-third of roles due to a severe lack of digital skills among applicants. Although the evidence does suggest that the UK has a strong digitally enabled workforce, the digital shortage is evident across the country.

The study states that 53% of employees lack the essential digital skills needed for work, whilst last year alone, 1.8million more people were found to have the highest level of digital capability.

This shows that whilst digital-savvy employees are upskilling constantly, a large percentage of the workforce are lacking the training they need to master even a basic level of competency. 37% are still at risk of being left behind as technology continues to advance in the workplace.
