Whilst the prospect of AI and automation taking jobs is an ever-present issue in the workplace, one London bar has utilised its abilities to not only benefit staff, but also its customers too.
The technology, which was developed specifically for use in the public sector by DataSparQ, uses a combination of AI and cameras to determine the structure of queues, and determine which customers are next in line to be served.
This, the company claims, will not only speed up serving times for staff by up to five seconds per customer but also ensure that customers are treated fairly and avoid arguments.
The new technology’s analytical facial recognition technology also has the ability to scan customer's faces and determine who in the queue should be asked for ID, and who has already been queried.
