Employers are 'gaming' Glassdoor with fake reviews

Last year, Recruitment Grapevine’s sister brand, HR Grapevine, spoke to a recruitment director who suggested that some companies were trying to game employee-review site ‘Glassdoor’.

Alan Furley, Director at recruitment firm ISL, told HR Grapevine: “I’m not going to name names, but it’s been known for some bosses to tell staff they must give the business good Glassdoor ratings.

“I understand, for example, that in some businesses writing and posting positive Glassdoor reviews is literally part of the promotion criteria – in an unofficial sense, of course."

Yet, Furley isn’t alone in suggesting that some firms might be trying to game the system. More recently, a recruiter spoke to Recruitment Grapevine reporting he’s worked with several candidates who came from a firm where senior management asked marketing to write Glassdoor reviews.
