Google reveals secrets to finding leaders

When observing a team and deciding which employee is deserving of a promotion, there are multiple factors that are considered before a final verdict is made.

Managers don’t hand out promotions on a whim; employees have to have done something to prove themselves, whether it’s acing an important project or years worth of proven leadership skills, each manager will have their own checklist of promotable attributes.

Business Insider recently revealed the 13-point checklist that Google uses to identify and promote its best leaders. Employees are frequently quizzed about their managers to find out the strength of a manager and whether they are truly worthy of a promotion.

  • I would recommend my manager to others – Successful managers will have won over the heads and hearts of employees.

  • My manager gives me the opportunity to stretch to help me develop my career – Managers that care about their employees’ careers as much as their own is a good sign for promotion because they aren’t just thinking inside an isolated bubble.
