One of the biggest taboos in the workplace is the concept of asking for a raise. Despite the fact that you believe the work you do is top notch, and that the extra money could literally transform your life, many employees simply ignore the subject out of sheer embarrassment or some misplaced concept of commitment to the company.
Let’s start by stating that you are categorically entitled to raise the subject of compensation with your boss if you genuinely believe you deserve it; rarely will a company come to you and offer to pay you more money and whilst you’re feeling insecure about the concept of discussing it, others are pushing their way forward and earning more.
