Ethnic minority employees to double in 5 years

Facebook has announced plans in its 2019 Diversity Report to double its minority employees over the next five years – engadget.com reports.

While the social media behemoth has made a conscious effort to become more diverse over the last few years – as evidenced by the stats – the company is quick to admit that more work needs to be done.

Across all roles, Facebook’s diversity report highlighted that the majority of employees are currently either White or Asian. However, over the next five years, the firm is hoping to change this by ensuring that at least half of their workforce is female, or those from under-represented minorities, while also accommodating for people with disabilities and veterans.

The table below illustrates the ethnic make-up of its US population over the last six years, as well as global gender diversity:
