Whatever role we perform, we want to ensure are portraying ourselves as professional as possible, but how important is our choice of clothing to this?
There’s no question that when we dress smartly, we automatically feel more professional and there’s the hope that others will generally take us more seriously.
For example, Berkshire Hathaway’s CEO Warren Buffett is never without his suit, while James Dimon from JP Morgan Chase & Co, also regularly dons a tie.
However, back in 2018 Lloyd’s of London relaxed its dress code after more than 300 years by letting its male employees attend work without a tie. Meanwhile, earlier this year Virgin Atlantic switched up its uniform policies, allowing women to wear trousers as part of their uniform, while make-up will no longer be required during flights.
