Standing in for the Secretary of State of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Corporate Responsibility Kelly Tolhurst delivered the opening speech at CIPD’s Festival of Work.
Speaking on Wednesday 12th June at Olympia London, Tolhurst’s message was that businesses needn’t fear the robots – even if digital transformations will be difficult.
She said: “New technologies are changing what work means faster than ever before, but I believe we should be optimistic, celebrating the transformative potential of these new technologies.
“They can give people the right skills, give people the right protections and encourage the right practices. The future of work can be bright.”
