Worker rights | Uber drivers strike over pay and conditions

Following several reports of poor working conditions and reduced pay, it has been confirmed that Uber drivers in London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Glasgow will protest outside Uber’s offices today.

Whilst the protests originated in the UK, drivers will be joined by Uber workers in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Drivers have outlined the harsh working conditions demanded by the company, with long hours and reduced pay swiftly becoming the norm for many.  

“What I feel Uber does is like if you throw a seed to the birds and bring them to the cage and close the cage on them,” Uber driver of five years Hrant Gorgeian told The Guardian.
