With Meghan Markle giving birth yesterday, social media and news broadcasters have been awash with rumours as to what the baby’s name will be and when the public will first see him.

However, in the world of HR, it will spark another discussion about maternity rights, the mother’s right to privacy and what form paternity leave should take.

Maternity leave

When Kate Middleton gave birth, she took six months of maternity leave from royal duties. Whilst working as a royal is different from what the majority undertake for a salary, there are some similarities.
