The workplace can be a testing environment when employees break one of the age-old unwritten rules of co-habitation that govern our professional lives.
Much like a relationship, co-workers are acutely aware of just how much time they must spend with those around them and therefore, alleviating pressure by setting certain ground rules can be the difference between a peaceful community and office warfare.
Some rules, such as not microwaving dried fish, maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and washing up your own kitchenware need not be re-iterated for most professionals (although we all know at least one worker who regularly flouts such rules), yet there are some that are genuinely unaware that their actions infuriate their peers – and yes, these very much apply to management too.
In fact, as management, all eyes are on you to demonstrate exactly where the fine line is on many issues. If you insist on taking seven smoke-breaks per day, your employees will deem it acceptable to do the same. This is why as a business leader it is imperative that you remain aware of these five actions and their consequences.
