ITV star questions Emmerdale for sacking her over old tweets

Earlier this month, ITV confirmed that the Emmerdale actress Shila Iqbal, who played Aiesha Richards, was sacked from her role after a thread of historic racially offensive and homophobic tweets came to light – the BBC reported.

However, Iqbal has since stepped forward claiming that she shouldn’t have been sacked from her dream role but suspended instead.

She recently apologised for using “inappropriate language” in her tweets which were posted back in 2013 when the TV star was 19.

In a recent interview with ITV’s This Morning, Iqbal told the show’s hosts that she shouldn’t be judged on something that she did when she was a teenager.
