Netflix’s disruption of the media sector has driven the brand to the upper echelons of thought leadership. However, a former Netflix executive has claimed that the internal practices for which Netflix has previously been commended for are not as they seem – Variety.com reported.
Tania Zarak, who worked for the company as a manager in the International Originals division, is now suing the company after claiming that disclosing her pregnancy in November 2018 resulted in her being fired.
Zarak claimed that after announcing her pregnancy, she found herself being consistently cut out of meetings, whilst manager Francisco Ramos allegedly ignored her communications and made unprofessional remarks about her appearance – before removing her from a show that she was working on.
After complaining about the treatment to HR, she was called into a meeting with Ramos to discuss the situation, in which he assured her that she could work through her pregnancy and enquired about the due date.
