National Living Wage increases for 2million workers

Nearly 2million workers will receive a boost in pay today, as the National living Wage rises by nearly five per cent - ITV reported.

The hourly rate for adults will increase from £7.83 to £8.21 as part of the national move, which will boost the average pay of workers by £690 over the course of 12 months.

The hourly rate for young adults within the age range of 21 to 24 will increase from £7.38 to £7.70 and from £5.90 to £6.15 for those between the ages of 18 and 20.

Up to 20,000 professionals within the fields of retail and hospitality stand to gain the most from the move, which the Government confirmed is the largest ever increase in the figure.
