When starting a new job, staff feel at ease when they feel that the organisation is prepared for their start, make an effort to welcome them and provide a happy, calm atmosphere to help them settle in.

Not every new hire is so lucky, however. HR Grapevine searched the net for the worst red flags you can spot at a new job – so you can ensure they aren’t putting off employees in your organisation.

The eyes have it

Reddit user slider728 suggested it’s possible to tell if a workplace culture is poor from the “look of defeat” in the eyes of long-term staff. “Their job has no enjoyment, it is merely about survival,” they say.
