Nearly half of businesses failing to use HR data

Almost half of all businesses in the UK are failing to utilise the valuable insights that are available in their HR operations, according to research conducted by YouGov.

The poll, which surveyed 500 businesses, found that 44% maintain no focus on HR analytics – technology that uses ‘people data’ to aide in business issues.

However, those embracing the useful data are yielding major advantages; 29% are using it for financial workplace planning, whilst 23% utilise the data to improve the accuracy and simplicity of their reporting. A further 14% noted that the information gathered aides in predicting employee retention, compliance and workforce growth.

When asked what was preventing HR teams from delivering analytics, 35% said it was due to not having the right knowledge or skills within HR. Almost a third claimed that the biggest barrier was the lack of quality data currently collected in the business.
