1 in 5 UK employees want workplace nap time

Waking to the robotic melodies of an alarm clock is a thought that makes many people shudder with discomfort. And the same tedious rhythm continues to deafen your hearing senses until you finally decide to get out of bed for work.

While this is a common morning feeling shared by many workers, new research has found that many UK employees are suffering at work because of poor sleeping habits – which is making it even harder to get up.

New research from Sealy UK revealed that 64% of Brits say that their working life has been negatively impacted by a lack of sleep and this has probed one in five to call on employers for a designated nap time during working hours.

The survey found that UK employees wake up feeling tired four times a week, while 28% have arrived late to work because of oversleeping. Furthermore, one in five have admitted to falling asleep at work which they attribute to severe sleep deprivation. The research suggests that sleep-deprived workers have a huge impact on workforce productivity.
