Ted Baker Founder resigns after staff harassment allegations

Following a spate of recent investigations into business leaders, it was today revealed that Ted Baker CEO Ray Kelvin has stepped down from his role after a serious of ‘forced hugging’ claims.

 The co-founder took a voluntary leave of absence in December of 2018 after the accusations of misconduct were made against him. After an internal independent committee investigated the claims, Kelvin voluntarily stepped down from his position, despite actively denying any wrongdoing.

Acting Chief Officer Lindsay Page will continue in the role, whilst David Bernstein is to act as Executive Chairman until November of 2020 – at which time a new chairman will be chosen.

In a statement, Kelvin stated: “Difficult though this decision is, given that Ted Baker has been my life and soul for over 30 years, I’ve decided that the right thing to do is to step away from Ted and allow the business to focus on being the outstanding brand it is so it can face 2019 with fresh energy and renewed spirit.
