Staggering new stats suggest that more than five million UK-based workers clocked up around two billion unpaid hours of work throughout 2018.
This back-breaking amount of overtime racks up to more than £32 billion worth of unpaid work.
For the five million putting in more hours than they are paid for, they average 7.5 hours a week. This equates to an extra £6,532 of work – work not paid for.
The overtime issue is worse in London – with almost one in four employees doing unpaid overtime. This is greater than the national average which is one in five.
