Vodafone boss slammed for 'insensitive' pics sent to axed workers

A Vodafone director has come under fire from employees for posting an insensitive picture which joked about Scotland, hours before hundreds of his workers in Glasgow faced the axe.

The dailyrecord.co.uk reported that Vodafone Customer Operations Director, Antonio Shabbir, wore a ‘See You Jimmy’ Hat – a stereotypically traditional novelty Scottish hat – and was pictured clutching a bottle of Irn-Bru, in a post that was circulated via the company’s internal system.

Shabbir’s picture is captioned: “Getting ready for this month’s ‘Audience with Antonio’…some exciting news to share.”

Today the director is set to appear before Vodafone workers in Glasgow to announce job cuts and inform employees which jobs are set to relocate to Manchester.
